When we started Looper, building a tee sheet was never part of the plan. Clubs already had one, and our job was the app on top of it: the club's news, its events, its members, in one place on every member's phone. But the tee sheet was the thing members asked about most, so we went looking for a provider we could work with and sit the app on top of.

We wanted members to book from their own club's app, and the office to run the day from one sheet. We couldn't find a way to do that properly, and in the end we stopped looking. We built our own, and it's just about ready to go.

What members get

Members book from the club's app on their phone, and they book before the public can. Each club decides how far ahead its members can book and when a time opens to everyone else. A member picks a time, adds the people they're playing with by name, and that's it. If the office moves the time, everyone in the fourball hears about it.

Club days are part of the sheet. On a Saturday medal, members enter the field from the app. When the office publishes the draw, the members in it get a notice on their phone with their time and their tee.

What the office gets

The office works from the day, the week or the month, and can plan up to 12 months ahead. Club days go in once and repeat: the Saturday competition, a Wednesday field, a ladies' day. Find a player by name, drag a fourball to another time, print the starter's sheet. Every change to the day is kept in a log the office can read.

Visitors ask through a form on the club's own website. The office pencils them in, takes its own deposit in its own way and confirms when it's ready. There is no public list of open times, and Looper never takes a payment. Visitor green fees matter too much to a club to make asking hard.

Clubs to work with

The tee sheet runs today on Glenvale, our demo club, and we're getting ready to take it to clubs. There are things it doesn't do yet. We'd rather talk those through with a club one to one than list them here, because we think what it already does is worth a serious look.

So we're looking for clubs prepared to work with us and put it through its paces. The first clubs get the sheet set up for them, work with us directly as it beds in, and help shape what comes next.

Want your club to be one of them? Tell us about it and we'll take a closer look.
